Who we are and what this covers
MOTO(insite) at motoinsite.com is operated by the company named, with its postal address, at the foot of this page (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect on motoinsite.com, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.
It does not cover the websites you reach through our links — an insurer’s or agency’s quote page, the warranty partner’s checkout, or Stripe’s payment page — which have their own privacy policies. Creator and shopper accounts on my.motoinsite.com have their own privacy policy, linked from the sign-in screen.
Information you give us
Value tracker: the vehicle (year, make, model and trim, or a VIN; or a license plate and state, which we convert to a VIN), its mileage, your ZIP code, your name, your email address, and, only if you choose to add it, a phone number.
Vehicle history reports: the VIN, or a license plate and state; and your email address when you ask us to email a report or buy one. Payments are taken by Stripe on its own page; we never see or store your card number.
Insurance offers: your ZIP code and the vehicle. Whether you are insured today stays in your browser and is not sent to us.
Warranty quotes: the vehicle, its mileage and your state.
When you email us, we receive your message and email address.
Information collected automatically
Our own page analytics (no third-party analytics tools): the pages you view, which sections of a page came on screen, how far you scrolled, how long you were active on the page, which offers or forms you opened, page-speed measurements, your device type (phone, tablet or desktop), your country, the website that sent you, and any campaign tags in the link you followed. This is linked to random identifiers kept in your browser, not to your name or email address.
Technical and security data: our servers receive your IP address and browser type with every request. We use the IP address to prevent abuse and enforce limits (for example, how many free reports can be opened), and we store only a one-way hash of it with value tracker signups, plate lookups and free report requests.
Email: when we email you, we record whether the email was opened and which links were clicked.
Cookies and browser storage
We set one cookie of our own, mi_vid: a random identifier, kept for up to one year, that lets the site recognize your browser for the value tracker and the free report limits. It is not readable by other websites or by scripts on the page.
We also keep a few small values in your browser’s local and session storage so the site works and remembers your choices: the ZIP code you entered, whether you are insured, your analytics identifiers, the source of your visit, report and game progress, and your privacy choice. They stay on your device.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts. Logos of insurers and warranty providers load from those partners’ servers when offers are shown. If you sign in, my.motoinsite.com sets its own session cookie.
You can delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings; the site will still work, but it will forget your choices.
How we use information
To run the features you use: to value your vehicle and email you about it each month, to look up and deliver vehicle history reports, to show insurance offers and warranty plans for your vehicle, and to process report purchases.
To send the emails you asked for. Value tracker emails and report emails may include offers we are paid for (see the Advertiser disclosure).
To measure and improve the site, to keep it secure, to prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
We do not use your personal information to train artificial intelligence models, and we do not send it to AI providers. The vehicle descriptions on this site are generated from vehicle data only (see our Terms of service).
How we share information
Service providers that process information for us, under contract and only to provide their service: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Resend (email delivery), Stripe (payments), Inngest (order processing; it receives an order number only), Bumper (vehicle history data), Black Book (vehicle valuations) and Chaiz (warranty plan pricing; it receives the vehicle, mileage and state).
Our insurance advertising partner, MediaAlpha: when insurance offers load, we send it your ZIP code, the vehicle, your IP address and your browser type so it can show offers from insurers and agencies in its network. When you click an offer, you go to that company’s website and its privacy policy applies. Under some state laws, sending your IP address to an advertising partner may be considered “sharing” or a “sale” of personal information; you can opt out (see Your privacy choices).
We do not sell or share your name, email address or phone number, and we do not give them to insurers, warranty companies or dealers.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.
Your privacy choices
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: you can opt out on our Your privacy choices page (/en/privacy-choices/). We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as an opt-out. After you opt out, insurance offers are requested from our own server’s address with only your ZIP code and browser type; your IP address and vehicle details are not sent.
Emails: every value tracker email has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also email us to stop any email.
Cookies and storage: you can clear them in your browser at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale, sharing or use for targeted advertising. We do not use sensitive personal information, and we do not make decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects by automated means.
To make a request, email support@motoinsite.com from the email address you used with us, or tell us the VIN and email you used so we can find your records. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days (we may extend this once by 45 days and will tell you why). You may use an authorized agent; we may ask the agent for proof of authority and ask you to confirm your identity.
If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing support@motoinsite.com with “Appeal” in the subject. We will answer within 45 days; if you disagree with the outcome, you may contact your state attorney general.
We will not treat you differently, charge you a different price or give you a lower quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.
California notice at collection
In the last 12 months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email address, optional phone number, IP address, and random browser identifiers); commercial information (the vehicle you entered or looked up, its VIN or license plate, and report purchases); internet activity (pages viewed and interactions on our site); approximate location (ZIP code, state and country, never precise location); and the content of emails you send us. We collect it from you, from your browser, and from our vehicle data providers, for the purposes in How we use information.
We disclosed identifiers, commercial information and internet activity to the service providers listed above for business purposes. We “shared” IP addresses, ZIP codes and vehicle details with our insurance advertising partner as described above. We do not sell personal information of anyone we know to be under 16.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected: value tracker information while your tracker is active and until you ask us to delete it; report orders and payment records for as long as tax and accounting law requires; free report and plate lookup records, and page analytics, for as long as we need them to prevent abuse and understand how the site is used. We review what we hold at least once a year and delete or de-identify what we no longer need.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and a database role with the least privileges needed for the public-facing parts of the site. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
Children
motoinsite.com is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@motoinsite.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We will post any change here with a new effective date. If a change is material, we will also say so on the site or by email before it takes effect.

Advertising and data disclosure
Advertiser disclosure: MOTO(insite) may earn a commission when you get a quote or buy through links on this site. MOTO(insite) is not a dealer, an insurer, an insurance agent or broker, or a warranty or service-contract provider. Insurance offers come from insurers and agencies in our advertising partner’s network; extended warranties are vehicle service contracts from third-party providers. Vehicle history data is sourced from NMVTIS-approved providers. Estimates are informational only and are not an offer to buy or sell a vehicle.
